Introduction

This year, Ocean Park Conservation Alliance is launching a key initiative, by introducing an advanced flagship activity: the "Farming at School". Themed about local farming and focused on promoting low-carbon living, this programme aims to encourage schools to practice sustainable lifestyles. By incorporating the concept of "Farm-to-Table" into school life through local and seasonal food, the programme seeks to further promote the culture of "Eat Local."

To amplify the programme's goals and spread its message to the public, this year's "Seahorse Rangers Pledging Ceremony" will be held alongside the first "Local Food Festival".

The programme aim to recruit 20 enthusiastic member schools interested in farming, allowing Seahorse Rangers to have better understand on local agriculture. They will gain hands-on farming experience at local farms and to lead the entire school community to practice "farming at school".

On the day of the "Local Food Festival", Seahorse Rangers will become "Junior Farmers" and collaborate with local farmers to promote agricultural products they helped grow. They will also share their farming experiences, advocate for low-carbon lifestyles, and promote the "Eat Local" culture with the public.

Before the festival, Seahorse Rangers participants will be paired with a local farm to take part in a hands-on farming internship. This collaboration will provide opportunities to exchange knowledge, learn farming techniques, and seek advice from local farmers about on-campus farming.

In addition to experiencing the daily work of local farmers, participants will also attend exclusive workshops and seminars to deepen their agricultural knowledge and develop sustainable skills, thereby gaining a comprehensive understanding of local farming practices.
